Angry Blogger-Wisconsin Politics, Intelligence, and the Sexes

Just when you think these conservative politicians can't get any dumber, they surprise us with "yes, we can." Governor Scott Walker's repeal of Wisconsin's 2009 Equal Pay Enforcement Act was certainly based on sound reasoning: that money is more important for men!

Not to be outdone, his cohort in the state senate, Glenn Grothman, displaying his own intellectual prowess, says that men have more of a sense of urgency to earn money than women since they see themselves as the breadwinners. He even goes so far as to say that there is currently no gender wage gap in the US, and, if there is (he concedes), it's only because women choose to put child rearing above career goals. He did not just pull this out of thin air but used 'sound' research methods to arrive at this conclusion, or, to put it in layman's terms: Ann Coulter told him.

It continues to anger and amaze me that this type of Stone Age thinking is still alive and well in the 21st century. Do the citizens who vote for these clowns share the same sentiments? Are they just naïve or not cognizant of what the candidates stand for? Perhaps Rush Limbaugh and the other conservative pundits are their only source of information. That's the only explanation I can determine. Anyway you cut it, these are embarrassing and depressing times when politicians such as these are representing and making laws for the good people of Wisconsin.
